Site Launch: Riviera Travel
DesignKarma is thrilled to announce the launch of the new Riviera Travel website today. Through partnerships with national and regional newspapers and publications, Riviera Travel offer escorted tours and river cruises all over the World. This is DesignKarma’s first major high-traffic website, complete with online tour availability checking and booking, and complex source tracking features.
Powered by ExpressionEngine, the new website puts the client in complete control over content publishing. The usual DesignKarma/ExpressionEngine customisation and add-ons make the process as simple as possible.
The project also includes a number of “white label” subdomains, used by publishers like The Times, Mail on Sunday and Telegraph newspapers. Each white label is able to add custom elements and styles to the same website—as well as tracking their individual bookings.
The new website is further proof of ExpressionEngine’s status as a heavyweight content management system (without the heavyweight price tag), able to securely and robustly power high-traffic sites like this. The project also further highlights DesignKarma’s growing reputation as a serious player in the ExpressionEngine community, and opens the door to more large-scale projects like this.

It looks impressive. I notice that more and more people are using ExpressionEngine, although I wonder about the costs involved - is it suitable for small-scale projects?
Hi Michael. Yep, it’s definitely a very underrated CMS but I think all that will change with EE 2.0 this year. As for costs, the Core version is free for personal (non-commercial), or non-profit use only. A Personal license costs $99.95 and is for personal (non-commercial), or non-profit use only. The Commercial license costs $249.95 and is for use in, or in conjunction with a commercial, or for-profit endeavor.
When you purchase either a Personal or Commercial License you own it forever. You can use the license as long as you want. Each license purchase includes one free year of access to that license’s Download Account where you can download the latest version of ExpressionEngine you own. After one year, if you want to continue accessing the Download Area you can purchase a yearly renewal for $19.95 (Personal license) or $39.95 (commercial license).
